Elks Scholarship Program

Elks scholarships are awarded at the local, state, and national levels. All applicants must first apply at a local lodge. Lodge 1651 will award two $500 scholarships at the local level Each lodge forwards its top contestants to the Montana State Elks Association where additional $500 scholarships are awarded. The top state applicants are forwarded to the National Elks Foundation to compete for the national awards. In addition to the National Scholarship Programs, the Montana State Elks Association awards separate scholarships for music students and for sophomore and higher level undergraduates.

The Elks National Foundation has 3 scholarship programs:
  • Most Valuable Student Program: 500 four-year scholarships, ranging from $1,000 per year to $15,000 per year, for graduating high school seniors based on financial need, leadership and scholarship.
  • Legacy Awards: Four-year, $4,000 merit-based scholarships for children and grandchildren of Elks who are members in good standing.
  • Emergency Educational Grants: One-year educational grants available to children of deceased or totally disabled Elks. The grants can range up to $4,000. A grant is for one year only; however, the student may submit up to three annual renewal applications for succeeding years as long as he or she meets all other eligibility requirements.
